Annamalai University – AMU

The University which started with only seven departments in 1929 has, over the last 80 years, developed into a mighty institution of higher learning with nearly 49 Departments, in all 9 Faculties. This is one of the very few institutions in India with all the Faculties located in the same campus.

 

The University can be proud of a well equipped Central Library and Laboratories providing very good facilities for taking up research projects, for Ph.D. and Post-Doctoral work. Several Research Projects have been undertaken by various Faculties funded by several agencies including the State and Central Governments. A close interaction has been developed between the institution and the neighbouring industries for promotion of research and training programmes

 

AMU Distance Education Center

The Directorate of Distance Education established in 1979 offers four hundred and one different programmes of study under the Regular Stream. It is credited with the largest enrolment in India and is well equipped with computer and other infrastructure, adequate teaching faculty and administrative set-up of its own, study centres, computer training centres, etc., to serve its students' clientele in their best interest at their door steps.

 

It has also the unique distinction of offering first in India, Postgraduate Degree Programmes in Applied Psychology, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Bioinformatics and Law through Distance Education mode. The Directorate of Distance Education is also offering the Programmes on Fashion Design, Textile Design, Interior Design, Hotel Management and Catering Technology Programmes, Retail Management, Twinning Programme, Programmes on Health Science, Commonwealth Youth Programme, Yoga, Music, Fire and Safety, Pharmaceutical and Taxation Programmes.

 

AMU Accreditation and Membership

1.       All the programmes of study offered by the Directorate of Distance Education have the approval of the Distance Education Council, New Delhi.

2.       Accredited at the four star level by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

ADMISSION SESSIONS

1.       Calendar Year – January  2010 to December 2010

2.       Academic Year – July 2010 to June 2011

 

How to apply?

·         Candidates will be requested to bring the following documents for spot admission.

1.       Original Certificates for minimum entry requirements.

2.       Two passport size photos-one to be pasted on the application and one more for issue of Identity Card on paying prescribed fee

3.       Entrance Test has to be conducted for Open university System Courses

 

·         Original Certificates will be verified by associates and immediately returned to the candidates.    

·         Provisional selection for admission is made by the associate and noted in the space provided in the application.

·         Original applications with Xerox copies of the certificates will be forwarded to AMU for identity card and admission confirmation.

 

STUDY MATERIALS

Study materials will be issued to the students 30 days after the admission along with the prescribed fee. However, we will try our best to issue sooner than that.

 

COURSE FEE

Course fee is payable to Techno Brain Limited in Cash or Cheque equivalent to the USD mentioned.

 

CONFIRMATION OF ADMISSION

On receipt of full fees, admission will be confirmed and Identity Cards with Enrolment numbers be dispatched to us which in turn will be handed over to students.  

 

Classes

Panel of Faculty members with their profiles approved by AMU representative will conduct the classes. Minimum educational qualification for the faculty required is Master’s degree in their subject.

 

EXAMINATIONS

Practical / Viva-voce examinations will be conducted from 1st to 10th of January / July and theory examinations from 19th of January / July every year.

 

Students will fill up the applications and remit the examination fee .

Controller of Examinations will conduct examinations through Indian Embassy.

 

RESULTS

Results will be announced through online.(www.annamalaiuniversity.ac.in)

 

CERTIFICATE

Controller of Examination will dispatch certificates through HMHIEC, Singapore.

 

CONVOCATION CERTIFICATE

Convocation will be held in December / January once in a year at the University campus. Students have to register for convocation by paying convocation fee of USD25 and wait for minimum one or two months time after the convocation to get Degree Certificates from the Controller of Examinations through HMHIEC.
